Mr. Jun Hashizume, Senior Councillor at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, visited Hiroshima University.

Mr. Jun Hashizume, Counselor in the Minister's Secretariat (responsible for the Comprehensive Education Policy Bureau) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, visited Hiroshima University from September 2nd to 3rd. He held a meeting with President Mitsuo Ochi, gave a lecture, and exchanged opinions. He also toured the university's research facilities and exchanged opinions with researchers.

The lecture, themed "Trends in Recurrent Education and Research and Development," featured a lively exchange of opinions with participants including the president, directors, and vice presidents.

During the facility tour, Mr. Hashizume visited the Digital Manufacturing Education and Research Center. This center is a hub for promoting "human resource development to drive digital innovation" and "emergent industry-academia research and development." It brings together universities, research institutions, and industry in one location, conducting multiple research projects centered on the automotive industry, one of Hiroshima's core industries. During the tour, Mr. Hashizume explained the center's distinctive facilities, including a large-scale demonstration environment (testbed) for social implementation, and discussed research such as material development based on automotive needs and empirical research aimed at realizing more comfortable in-car air conditioning. Mr. Hashizume asked various questions regarding the research content.

In addition, at the PSI GMP Education and Research Center (Kasumi Campus), Vice President Hidetoshi Tahara explained the center's initiatives and the importance of universities possessing internationally standardized clinical trial drug manufacturing facilities and fostering human resources. Furthermore, at the Semiconductor Industrial Technology Research Institute (Higashi-Hiroshima Campus), Director Akinobu Teramoto explained the activities of the Setouchi Semiconductor Consortium, in which Hiroshima University plays a central role, and its human resource development efforts. An exchange of opinions took place regarding the further development of the institute's activities.
